Abstract
805,346. Arch supports for mine roofs. BERGAUSTAHL, G. m.b. H. Dec. 21, 1956 [Jan. 4, 1956, Oct. 23, 1956], No. 39092/56. Class 20(2) Mine arch frames consisting of overlapping curved channel section irons 1, 2 are secured by a clamp comprising a half shackle 3 fitted about the bottom of the outer section and associated damping means 10 inclined at an angle of more than 30 degrees, preferably 45 degrees to the channel bottom with a recess 13 for engaging over the end of the inner section. Additional stirrup bolts 10<SP>1</SP> may be added. Bolt 10 may be replaced by a pair of hooked bolts as illcstrated in Fig .3 (not shown). The half shackle 3 can be produced by bending and boring a piece of sheet metal of the shape disclosed in Fig. 5 (not shown). A guide ring may be provided at the overlap of the sections.
