Abstract

804,463. Velocity-modulated tubes. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Nov. 28, 1955 [Nov. 30, 1954], No. 34705/54. Class 39(1). A broad band klystron amplifier or frequency multiplier has the buncher and catcher in the form of band pass filters each comprising a plurality of inter-coupled elements, only one of which elements interacts with the beam. The filters may be in the form of distributed and/or periodic circuits or, as shown, coupled resonant cavities 13, 14. The cavities of each structure are resonant at slightly different frequencies so that the filter as a whole is responsive over a pass-band. One or more additional filters 15 may be interposed between the buncher and catcher.
