Abstract
804,386. Mine roof supports. MACHENT ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Feb. 18, 1957 [Feb. 24, 1956], No. 5734/56. Class 20(2) A roof bar joint comprises two cheeks 3, Fig. 2, at one end of a bar between which is pivoted, by pin 8, a tongue 5 of the end of another bar locked by a ribbed member 14 (held in place by heads 20) which may be moved lengthwise to wedge its inclined rib 17 over rib 12 of tongue 5 (see Fig. 5) so as to cant H-section bar B upwards about pivot 8 (held in its bores by head 9 and projection 11). When bar B is propped member 14 may be slid across so as to allow ribs 17A to bear against the lower face of rib 12 to consstitute a rigid beam.
