Abstract
804,173. Belting. GANDY, Ltd. March 2, 1956 [March 23, 1955], No. 8384/55. Class 80 (1). [Also in Group VIII] Machine belting comprises a sheet of fabric having on one surface a coating of a flexible non-vulcanizable vinyl polymer, e.g. polyvinyl chloride, folded to form a double ply with said coating forming the external surfaces, the internal surfaces of the folded sheet adhering to one another by means of a flexible adhesive layer, e.g. balata gum. The fabric may be cotton duck or may be made from other natural or synthetic fibres, e.g. rayon, nylon or " Terylene " (Registered Trade Mark). The belting may be produced by coating one face of the fabric with the vinyl polymer, and the other face with a flexible adhesive, folding the coated fabric and causing the two plies to adhere together by the application of heat. Any slight gap between abutting edges may be sealed by the application of heat, the application of a flexible non-vulcanizable vinyl polymer strip or solution, or a strip of fabric impregnated with a flexible non-vulcanizable vinyl polymer solution or dispersion.
