Abstract
804,151. Finishing fabrics. SOC. RHODIACETA. Aug. 7, 1956 [Aug. 11, 1955], No. 24182/56. Class 42 (1). [Also in Group IX] A process for the production of a textile material exhibiting a relief effect comprises forming a textile material containing polyamide filaments which are wholly or partially shrunk and polyester filaments which have a shrinkage capacity greater than that of the polyamide filaments and subjecting the material to heat treatment at a temperature of at least 180 C. The material may be a plain weave fabric using in the warp sized and fully shrunk threads based on polyethylene terephthalate of 65 denier having 33 filaments and a right-hand twist of 600 turns per metre, the number of threads being 48 per cm. and in the weft, fully shrunk threads based on polyhexamethylene adipamide of 70 denier having 23 strands and a left-hand twist of 200 turns per metre and threads still capable of undergoing the greater part of their shrinkage and based on polyethylene terephthalate of 65 denier having 33 filaments and a right-hand twist of 200 turns per metre, 8 polyamide threads alternating with 8 polyester threads, and the total density being 42 threads per cm. The fabric obtained is desized in a tepid bath and preshaped on a Krantz type tenter frame with air at temperature of 220 C., the speed of travel being 12 metres per minute and the frame being adjusted to permit a 100 per cent shrinkage of the weft. After this treatment, the warp shrinkage is 4 per cent while the weft shrinkages are 2 and 14 per cent for the polyamide and polyester threads, respectively. If the fabric is dyed with acid dyestuffs, the polyester threads are not dyed and a blistered appearance is obtained. The finished fabric has a high crease resistance and may incorporate filaments which are not affected by the heat treatment.
