Abstract

A composition comprises (1) an olefin polymer of molecular weight at least 500 and percentage crystallinity measured at ambient temperature as determined by nuclear magnetic resonance of at least 80; and (2) natural rubber or synthetic rubbery polymers of conjugated dienes. Specified olefin polymers are those of 1-olefins, e.g. ethylene, propylene, the copolymers ethylene-propylene, ethylene-1-butene, and 1-butene-propylene and copolymers of 1-olefins with up to 20 per cent conjugated dienes, e.g. butadiene. Specified synthetic rubbers are polymers of butadiene and 2,3-dimethylbutadiene or their copolymers with each other or with styrene, alpha-methyl styrene, methyl or ethyl acrylate, or methacrylate, 2-vinyl-pyridine, 2-methyl-5-vinylpyridine and the polymers and copolymers of chloroprene. The compositions may be used for shoe sole stocks, heels, pipes, and wire-coatings. The compositions may be cured with the usual compounding ingredients.
