Abstract
801,450. Knitting. BRITISH NYLON SPINNERS, Ltd. March 13, 1957 [March 16, 1956], No. 8241/56. Class 74 (2). An additional tension bar 21 is positioned between the main tension bar 15 and the guides 17 of the front guide bar of a two-guide bar warp machine. The bar 21 is influenced by a spring which is weaker than the spring controlling the main tension bar so that yarn drawn during the knitting cycle is taken up by the additional bar 21 and is made available and drawn on during the subsequent shogging operations of the guides 17 when the guides are shogged over two needles such that the subsequent knitting operations produce floats. The tension imposed on the yarns during this shogging operation is therefore reduced, resulting in the floats being less taut and capable if being treated to produce a raised surface. The back guides 17<SP>1</SP> receive their yarns for the ground of the fabric over a tension rail 13 in the usual manner.
