Abstract
801,272. Protective cut-out arrangements. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. June 22, 1955 [June 23, 1954], No. 18421/54. Class 38 (5). A phase sequence network for use with a three-phase system comprises a pair of seriallyconnected impedance arms R, P of substantially equal absolute impedance value and having impedance phase angles differing by substantially 60 degrees, means for supplying current to the impedance arms constituted by three current transformers AT, BT, CT, and a single 1: 1 ratio transformer T having primary and secondary windings TP, TS associated respectively with the two impedance arms and connected with the current transformers in such a manner that the impedance arms are each arranged to be supplied with current dependent on the difference between the currents passing through the secondary windings of two of the current transformers, and a detector D linked with the impedance arms to give an indication of the presence of either negative or positive phase components. Fig. 1 (Provisional) shows an arrangement in which the current transformer secondary windings, with that CT reversed, are star connected and the impedance arms R, P comprise a resistor R and a parallely-connected inductance-resistor combination r, x. Alternatively the arm P may comprise a seriallyconnected inductance-resistor combination. In Fig. 1 (Complete) the current transformer secondary windings are connected in delta, the circuit connections being suitably modified.
