Class 65(2) A rising butt hinge has its effective rise increased by the addition of separate tapered lift plates 6, 7 slidably and rotatably mounted on the hinge pin 5 intermediate the hinge eyes 3, 4. The bases 6b, 7b of the plates are bevelled and slidably engage with the bevelled edges of the leaves. The cooperating surfaces between eyes and plates are of helical form; they may be partly in the plane of opening to give an initial dwell to the hinge movement. Further lift plates may be added to increase the lift.
