Abstract

Sheets of synthetic material such as polyesters, synthetic resins, or the like are reinforced by an internal layer of glass fibre, mineral fibre or any other suitable fibre in a woven or unwoven state. The sheets may be made by spraying glass matting in a finely divided or chopped up condition on to a first layer of polyester and then applying thereon a second layer of polyester whereafter the whole is hot pressed or cold pressed and caused to harden. The hardening may be effected through interaction of peroxide catalyzers, ultra-violet radiation or heat, or p combinations of both of these means. The sheets may be used in the manufacture of translucent liquid containers (see Group XVII) and parts that are relatively thick, such as handles, may also include quartz powder, talcum, chalk, kaolin or glass powder.
