Abstract

798,678. Photographic developing compositions. GENERAL ANILINE & FILM CORPORATION. Dec. 27, 1956 [Dec. 29, 1955], No. 39333/56. Class 98(2) A single powder photographic developing composition having an organic silver halide developing agent and an alkali is stabilized to prevent their interaction by means of anhydrous oxalic acid. Preferably, the composition contains between 0.5 and 5 per cent oxalic acid. The alkali may be anhydrous or monohydrated sodium, carbonate, sodium sulphate, borax or potassium or sodium hydroxide. The composition may include benztriazol, an antifogging agent, a preservative and a calcium ion sequestering agent. Examples given illustrate the use of potassium bromide as the first, sodium sulphite or sodium metabisulphite as the second and ethylenediamine tetracetic acid as the third.
