Class 38 (4). [Also in Group XL (b)] The system of control of the frequency and phase of the line synchronization pulse generators of remote television camera stations of Specification 737,847 so that the signals received back at a control or monitoring station from all the cameras are in synchronism to facilitate switching over is extended to include phase control in a similar way of the frame synchronizing pulse generators of slave stations when such stations do not have a common phase synchronizing source such as A.C. mains voltage. To this end a second low-frequency oscillation is transmitted by radio link or cable to each of the camera stations, of phase, frequency or amplitude dependent on any lack of synchronism between frame synchronizing pulses received at the control station from the slave station and a monitoring signal at the control station. This second signal may simply consist of one of two or three selectable signals detected at the slave station and used to step control in phase a Schmitt type decade binary counter or other digital frequency divider operated from the line synchronizing pulse generator, certain stages of the counter being preset so that a frame synchronizing pulse is produced every 819 pulses corresponding to the number of halflines in a frame.
