Abstract

A composition, useful for coating electrical apparatus and glass cloth, comprises (1) a methyl phenyl polysiloxane resin having from 1.0 to 1.7 methyl and phenyl radicals per Si atom and from 0.1 to 1.5 per cent by weight of silicon-bonded OH groups and (2) from 0.01 to 3 per cent by weight of (1) of an alkyl borate, e.g. methyl, ethyl, butyl, amyl or octadecyl borate. The compositions may also contain solvents such as hydrocarbons, alcohols and ethers, fillers, e.g. mica, glass, silica and clays, and curing catalysts, e.g. zinc hexoate, zinc actoate, lead butyrate, cobalt naphthenate, beta-hydroxyethylbenzyldimethyl- and benzyltrimethyl-ammonium butoxide and amines.
