Abstract

796,959. Soil stabilization. CEMENTATION CO., Ltd. May 16, 1956 [June 6, 1955], No. 16201/55. Class 68(1) Piles are produced in situ to stabilize soil by drilling a bore of smaller diameter than the pile to be produced. After the drill has been withdrawn a pipe is lowered into the hole. From the leading end of the pipe can issue at an angle to the axis of the hole a single jet of grouting medium. The tube is rotated and withdrawn from the bottom of the hole so that the jet impinges on, erodes and mixes with the soil of the walls of the hole. Thus a cavity of larger diameter than the hole is formed and is filled with a mixture of soil and grouting medium which sets to form a pile.
