Class 120(2) A device for preveting doubles in spinning, doubling winding or like frames comprises a cylinder A having a longitudinal slot from end to end for threading the yarn into the device and a V-shaped recess a<SP>1</SP> at one or both sides and possibly also at the back of the slot into which yarn will be drawn if it breaks and balloons into an adjacent yarn The edges of the recess a<SP>1</SP> are preferably chamfered to sever the thread. The device is shown mounted on a lappet rail E by a slotted arm a<SP>2</SP>. In the Provisional Specification, it is stated that the recesses a<SP>1</SP> extend downwardly from the top of the cylinder A.
