Class 126 The continuous burning type of domestic fire grate shown has a front 3, Fig. 5, incorporating a grid comprising a rectangular frame with horizontal bars 5, 7 the top corners of the frame being formed with pockets for carrying trivets. The bars 5, 7 are formed at their ends with notches 9 and projections 13, respectively, such that projections 17 on the rear face of a cover plate 15 may engage the notches when the plate is tucked down behind the lower part of the front 3, leaving the spaces between the grid bars free, and may engage the projections 13 when the plate is in its operative position covering the spaces between the bars. The plate is slid up and down as required by the engagement of a poker like tool in a hole formed near its upper edge.
