Abstract
794,609. Valves. AKTIEBOLAGET BAHCO. Dec. 20, 1955 [Feb. 28, 1955], No. 36463/55. Class 135. The gaseous-fuel control-valve of a range, portable stove, heater or lamp comprises a casing 35, Fig. 3, having an inlet 18 and an outlet 37 which open into a chamber 36 that has a sleeve 7 threaded therein, the interior of the sleeve being formed with a frusto-conical bore, the wide end of which constitutes a valve seat 6 adjacent the inlet 18 whilst a port 9 through the sleeve wall leads to the outlet 37. The ball closure-member 5 is urged from its seat by a spring 10 and is moved on to or toward its seat by a manually-actuated rod 11 incorporating a knob 14. As the member 5 moves from its seat to the position shown, the diameter of the member 5 and the conicity of the sleeve interior are arranged to provide a rapid change of fuel flow from zero to a maximum and then a gradual reduction to a given minimum value. The full fuel-flow during the opening and closing of the valve causes the removal of any accumulated impurities. The position of the member 5 in the sleeve to ensure the desired minimum fuel flow is determined by the rod 11 which is threaded into the casing 35 and embodies a portion 16 that coacts with an adjustable stop 13 screwed on to the casing. In a modification, an enlarged portion 21, Fig. 5, on the rod 11 co-operates with an adjustable stop formed by the inner edge of a ferrule 19 into which the rod is screwed and which is itself threaded into the casing.
