Abstract

794,038. Electrostatic precipitation. VOKES, Ltd. March 7, 1956 [March 10, 1955], No. 7092/55. Class 39(1). Dust is removed from gases by a fibrous mat 1 which is electrically charged by sets of negative and positive electrodes 8, 11 and which is arranged to lie across a gas duct 4 between two spools 2, 3. Spool 2 carries uncontaminated fibrous material and spool 3 is arranged to be power driven to draw off material from the first spool upon actuation of a control mechanism e.g. a time switch, or a pressure sensitive switch 5 which is responsive to the gas pressure on the upstream side of the filter mat and which controls a motor for the spool 3. The gas pressure on the upstream side rises when the material becomes clogged. Warning lights may be operated when a refill roll of material is required. A pre-ionizing chamber may be provided.
