Abstract
793,702. Weighing apparatus. MARTINDECKER CORPORATION. Jan. 28, 1955 [Jan. 29, 1954], No. 2682/55. Class 143 In a hydraulic weighing device the pressure generating unit comprises a fluid filled chamber C between a plate 14 and a flexible diaphragm 16, a plate 15 in contact with the diaphragm, an element 21 connected with plate 14 by bolts or studs 26 which are slidable through holes 15c in plate 15, and an element 20 connected with plate 15 by bolts 25 which are slidable through holes 14c and 17a in plate 14 and a diaphragm sealing ring 17. Thus movement apart of elements 20, 21 generates pressure in chamber C which communicates with a gauge (not shown) through conduits 35, 11. Bolts 25, 26 are provided with spacer sleeves 29, 30 and rubber cushioning rings 31, 32. As described in connection with Fig. 1 (not shown) the unit is connected between a fixed base member and an arm extending tangentially from a snubbing drum to which is anchored one end of a cable forming part of a well drilling apparatus. In a modification (Fig. 5, not shown) the elements 20, 21 are provided respectively with an eye and a hook which connect two parts of a running or anchored line. In other modifications (not shown) the unit is incorporated in the pulley tackle system of a crane or derrick or in a torque indicator.
