Abstract

792,578. Driving chains; hinges. SIEMENS EDISON SWAN, Ltd., [formerly SIEMENS BROS. & CO., Ltd.]. Oct. 12, 1956 [Oct. 28, 1955], No. 30916/55. Classes 24 and 65(2). [Also in Group XVIII] A chain comprises links and connecting pins of a synthetic polyamide resin such as nylon Each link, Fig. 2. has side-plate portions 3 and 4 linked by a tubular portion 5, the holes 7 and 8 in the portions 3 and 4 being of different size. Each pin, Fig. 8, comprises a head 14 of larger diameter than the hole 7, a cylindrical shank 15 of a diameter such that it first passes through the hole 7, a short cylindrical portion 16 of a reduced diameter such that it just passes through the hole 8. and a tapered end portion 17 which is forced through the hole 8 and then presents a shoulder to the outer surface of the side portion 3. thus securing the pin in position. Certain of the links have an integral slot-supporting portion to which is secured a seat for carrying a display surface in a changing display .indicator (see Group XVIII).
