Abstract

791,969. Glass. PITTSBURG PLATE GLASS CO. Oct. 7, 1955 [Oct. 14, 1954], No. 28625/55. Drawings to Specification. Class 56. A lead borosilicate glass for adhering to a nickel-iron alloy containing approximately equal parts by weight of iron and nickel, or to a metal oxide coating on said alloy, and for sealing to a lime-soda-silica glass comprises 67 to 75 per cent by weight PbO, 12-16 B 2 O 3 , 10-15 SiO 2 and about 4 per cent by weight Al 2 O 3 . The invention also includes the composite article for sealing to a lime-soda-silica glass and comprising a nickel-iron alloy containing approximately equal parts by weight of iron and nickel adhered to a lead borosilicate glass comprising 67-75 per cent by weight PbO, 12-16 Bz O 3 , 10-15 SiO 2 and 0-5 Al 2 O 3 . The invention is described with special reference to spacer elements and pore-sealing eyelets in multiple glazing units. Specification 734,922 is referred to.
