Abstract
791,646. Colour television tubes. CHROMATIC TELEVISION LABORATORIES, Inc. May 23, 1956 [May 26, 1955], No. 15944/56. Class 39(1). A colour television tube comprises a screen 49, Fig. 1, built up from phosphor strips which luminesce in different colours and in front of which on the cathode side is arranged a grid electrode having approximately the same dimensions as those of the fluorescent screen, a plurality of stretched parallel wires 21 being arranged with the interposition of glass frit 25, 27, Fig. 2, between two frames 23, 29, the frit providing a seal to connect together the wires and frames in a relatively insulated manner to form the colour grid unit, the unit being connected in a vacuum tight manner on the one hand to the window 17 and on the other to the cone 19 of the tube by means of material 37 having a lower fusion point than the glass frit 25, 27. As shown the frames 23, 29 are sealed by the material 37 to metal rings 33, 35 in turn sealed to the tube window and cone. The grid wires 21 are trimmed externally and interconnected after sealing by the frit in the frames. The screen 49 on its support 15 may be secured to the tube by holders 43 having a lead through conductor 47.
