Abstract

A motor fuel comprises gasoline containing tetraethyl lead and an ethylene halide and the cyclohexylamine salt of 3-methylbutyl, 2-ethylhexyl acid orthophosphate. The fuel contains between 0.3 and 1.5 times the theoretical amount required to convert the lead to lead phosphate. The salt may be added to the gasoline as a solution in a hydrocarbon solvent such as toluene, or a concentrate comprising tetraethyl lead, ethylene halide, and the salt, may be added to gasoline.
