Abstract

790,886. Targets. SVENSKA AEROPLAN AKTIEBOLAGET. March 2, 1956 [March 9, 1955], No. 6588/56. Class 20(1) [Also in Groups XXXVIII and XXXIX] A microphone 2, having a non-magnetic acoustic diaphragm carrying an armature at or near its centre, is used to detect shock waves produced by a projectile fired at a target towed by an aeroplane and, provided a shockwave has an intensity above a predetermined value, the microphone output operates recording apparatus in the aeroplane to record a hit. The microphone 2 is resiliently mounted on a metal frame 45 secured in a hollow streamlined body 1 through the nose of which a towing cable, including two conductors for the microphone is introduced and clamped to the frame. The tail of the body contains a rod 47 attached to the frame and connectible to a target. The centre portion of the body 1 surrounding the microphone 2 comprises two perforated metal cylinders covered with metal 'gauze.
