Abstract

790,660. Thermocouples. CAMILLE BAUER AKT.-GES. Sept. 26, 1955 [Sept. 24, 1954], No. 27388/55. Class 40 (1). A thermocouple probe comprises a tube 1 in which is slidable an insulating element 2 carrying contact rods 3a, 3b of different metals and joined by leads to a voltmeter. The element 2 is attached to a rod 9 which is spring-urged at 16. A notch 9a in the rod is engageable by a spring-urged pin 10 on a pivoted hand lever 11 to hold the contact rods 3a, 3b in retracted position. With the rods in this position, the probe is placed on the test piece whose temperature is to be measured and hand lever 11 is operated to release the element 2 so that spring 16 causes the contact rods to pierce any skin on the test piece and thus contact the metallic surface thereof. The range of movement of the rods 3a, 3b is defined by studs 17a, 17b in the element 2, these studs riding in slots 1a, 1b in tube 1.
