Abstract
790,482. Pushing jacks. DEMAG AKT.- GES. Oct. 15, 1954 [Dec. 9, 1953], No. 29722/54. Class 78 (3). Thrusting mechanism for the guide rails 2 of mining apparatus 1, e.g. conveyers or coal ploughs which are moved along the face 3 of a mine working, comprises a double-acting hydraulic jack 4, 5 in which the cylinder chambers 4a, 4b are each connected to both a pressure pipe 10 and a return pipe 11, and crosswise operating valve gear (not shown) which ensures that either valve 10a or 11b or valves 10b and 11a are open so enabling the piston 5 to force water back into the pressure pipe 10 when the mining apparatus passes the thrust mechanism. A relief valve (not shown) is provided adjacent the pump to allow water to return from pipe 10 to pipe 11. The jack is mounted on an extensible distance piece 7, 8 provided with a reaction strut 9.
