Abstract

The process of the parent Specification is modified in that a minor portion of the stream of solution from the main boiling and steam stripping operation is more completely regenerated by subjection to additional boiling and steam stripping at a pressure and corresponding boiling temperature greater than those in the main boiling and steam stripping operation, the minor portion being then reduced in temperature to at least that of the major portion which latter is recycled to an intermediate level in the absorption column whilst the minor portion is separately recycled to the top of the column. The plant used is as described in Specification 790,287 although the vacuum pump for the regenerator may be left inoperative.
