790,163. Electric heating resistors. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP ONDERZOEKINGSINSTITUUT RESEARCH. Jan. 23, 1956 [Feb. 11, 1955, Sept. 22, 1955], No. 2208/56. Class 39(3) [Also in Group IX] A running textile or thermoplastic yarn 9 is heated by contact with the walls of a tube heated by passage of current therethrough (see Group IX) said tube having an inner diameter not exceeding 0.8 mm. and having a helical slit which facilitates "threading-up" but prevents escape of the yarn. Alternatively and as shown, a tubular member may be formed by a helically wound spring 10 the ends of which are held by arms 2 and 3 supplying current to the spring through leads 5 and 6, the arm 3 being fixedly atached to an insulated block 4 and the arm 2 being slidably attached thereto by means of a collar 11 and the position of which is adjusted to stretch the spring to produce any predetermined inner diameter thereto.
