790,159. Pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes. BEIERSDORF & CO., AKT.-GES., P. Jan. 10, 1956 [Jan. 22, 1955], No. 899/56. Class 140. A self-adhesive pressure-sensitive tape comprises a support carrying an adhesive layer, chlorosulphonated polyethylene being included in the adhesive, as in the support, or in a layer intermediate between the support and the adhesive, or the support itself may be constituted of chlorosulphonated polyethylene. Examples describe the formation of the base support by casting a layer of chlorosulphonated polyethylene or a chlorosulphonated polyethylene containing composition on glass or metal, then removing the film and coating it with various layers which comprise layers to improve anchorage of the adhesive to the support, anti - adhesive layers, e.g. of polyethylene, to the reverse side of the tape and a layer of adhesive, any of which layers may contain chlorosulphonated polyethylene. The examples also disclose the use of tape supports comprising paper impregnated with chlorosulphonated polyethylene and fabric coated with said compound.
