Abstract
790,079. Automatic feed weighers. PELZ, H., PELZ, F., and NAGEL, K. Oct. 14, 1955, No. 29277/55. Class 143 An automatic feed weigher of the kind in which a predetermined weight of the stream of fed material, corresponding to the weight of suspended material at cut off, is diverted into a compartment 11 of the weigh pan 2 during one weighing operation, and is transferred into the main portion of the pan, after it has been emptied, to form part of the next charge, is characterized in that means are provided to regulate the quantity of material diverted to compartment 11. As shown in Fig. 2 material is fed to pan 2 from main and dribble feed hoppers provided with gates 16, 21 respectively; on the closing of gate 16 a motor rotates, through one revolution, a pair of concentric cams 18 which close contacts 19, 20 and so energizes a solenoid 10 for a period of time determined by the relative angular adjustment of the cams. When the solenoid 10 is energized a deflecting plate 7 is moved to the position shown in dotted line. On completion of the weighing operation the pan tips about axis 2a to discharge its contents, and, in its return movement causes an abutment 15 to open the discharge door 12 of compartment 11. In the modification shown in Fig. 4 closing of gate 16 disengages a ratchet lever 23 from pendulums 22, 24 so permitting plate 7 to be moved to its diverted position by pendulum 22 for the period that pendulum 24 takes to swing down and release a lever 27 from engagement with a further pendulum 26 which latter pendulum then returns the plate 7 to its vertical position. In this embodiment the deflection time is adjusted by movement of the weight of pendulum 24 along its rod. In a further modification (not shown) the quantity of material diverted is regulated by adjusting the cross-section of the feed orifice and maintaining the period of deflection of piate 7 constant.
