Abstract
789,041. Explosive charges. POUDRERIES REUNIES DE BELGIQUE SOC. ANON. Jan. 17, 1956 [Feb. 2, 1955], No. 1612/56.. Class 9(1) A compound shaped charge comprises an outer priming layer 1 having a higher detonation velocity than the inner hollow explosive body 3, the difference in the detonation velocities being such that ignition of the inner body by the priming layer takes place over the whole area of the body 3 contacting the outer layer. The outer layer is trimethylene-trinitramine and the inner layer a mixture of 60-70 per cent of trinitrotoluene and 40-30 per cent of trimethylene-trinitramine. The two layers may be separated by an intermediate layer or lining 2 which may be aluminium, chromium steel, or other metal, or other inert material such as paper. A bore 4 may be provided in the layer 1 to house a detonating fuse. The layer 1 may also be a mixture of trinitrotoluene and trimethylene trinitramine. Specification 610,106 is referred to.
