Abstract
789,014. Universal joints. GIBSON, E. H. April 4, 1956 [April 5, 1955], No. 9867/55. Class 80(2). A universal joint comprises two members 1 each having diametrically arranged projections 2 formed with races 3 which form housings for balls 4 transmitting the drive from one member to the other whilst allowing axial as well as universal movement. The balls may be located by a spider-shaped cage 9 located on the interengaging spherical ends of spring-loaded pins 10 to provide a constant velocity joint.
