Abstract

788,906. Delivery stopping in textile machines. CALVERT, Ltd., I. & I., and TATE, C. May 3, 1956 [May 4, 1955], No. 12892/55. Class 120(2) An appliance to be interposed between a source of roving or yarn and the usual feed rollers of textile machines comprises a stationary guide member provided with a pivoted lever normally retained in position by a pair of passing rovings or yarns but operated by one on the failure of the other to deposit the unbroken roving or yarn in engagement with severing means. A pair of yarns passes through a twizzle 11, and one through each notch 3, 4 in a plate 1, and then normally through a notch 9 in a lever 8 pivoted to the plate 1. If one end ruptures or fails, the tension of the other end causes the lever 8 to pivot and bring the end into contact with the teeth of a comb 10 which severs the yarn and thus prevents further delivery. A slot 13 in the comb 10 permits accurate adjustment. The plate 1 may be of synthetic resin or sheet metal or of wire.
