Abstract
788,867. Dry rectifiers. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES. April 29, 1955 [April 30, 1954], No. 12547/55. Class 37. A dry. rectifier comprises two insulated strips 2 of U- shaped cross-section connected at their ends to connecting pieces 4 by screws 5. The section of the strips 2 is such that a stack of rectangular section rectifier plates 1 and circular cooling plates 3 may be piled from one end and subsequently held in intimate contact by springs 7 housed in bores 6 in one connecting piece 4. The cooling plates are apertured at 3a and 3b, the portion of each plate therebetween providing direct heat transmission to the outer surface. Screening end covers 8 and 9 are provided. The cooling plates 3 can be used also as contact members between consecutive individual stacks 1 of the rectifier plates and for this purpose may carry connecting tags 3c. The rectifier plates may be polygonal or round in shape and the strips 2 may be in the sectional form of angle pieces or angular segments. The number of strips 2 may be more than two, or if two, they may be of U-shape with a connecting piece 4 at one end only. Alternatively, the strips 2 may be connected by a single unitary bridge piece intermediate the ends of the strips, the plates being piled from both ends.
