Abstract
The invention comprises a method of preparing thiophosphinic halides of the structure: <FORM:0787850/IV (b)/1> in which R and R1 are organic radicles, by the action of anhydrous hydrogen halide on a diorgano-dithiophosphinic acid. In examples, hydrogen chloride or bromide is reacted with diphenyldithiophosphinic acid, the corresponding di(chlorophenyl)- and, ditolyl-derivatives to give the diaryl thio phosphinic chloride or bromide. The starting materials may be obtained by the method of Specification 787,083. A table of radicles which may be represented by R and R1 includes aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aryl, and many substituted hydrocarbon groups.
