Abstract
786,496. Copying-telegraph receivers. MUIRHEAD & CO., Ltd. June 17, 1955 [Sept. 15, 1954], No. 26769/54. Class 40 (3). [Also in Group VIII] An electrolytic recording medium for facsimile or photo-telegraphic receivers, comprising a base impregnated with an aqueous solution containing a polyhydroxyphenolic compound capable of forming a dark coloured lake with a metal, together with an electrolyte, contains additionally a colourless oxidizing compound which reacts readily with the products of electrolysis to intensify the recording when the recording is heated to a temperature between room temperature and 115 C. Specified oxidizing compounds are the chlorates and perchlorates of sodium or potassium. In examples, solutions containing 2¢ per cent solution weight of catechol, 15 per cent potassium nitrate and 2 per cent potassium chlorate, and 5 per cent catechol, 25 per cent sodium nitrate, and 15 per cent sodium chlorate are employed.
