Abstract
786,404. Press-button retractive switches; indicators for switches. UNITED-CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. Feb. 23, 1956 [March 21, 1955], No. 5707/56. Class 38 (5). A push-button switch and pilot light assembly comprises a tubular, bulb-carrying 'member 36 containing a lamp 38 and a transparent pushbutton 48, each of the parts 36, 48 having a flange cut away to form segments 50, 52 which mesh together to prevent relative rotation. The bulb carrier carries at its rear end a bridging contact 44 to bridge contacts 28, 30 disposed in the switch housing and so complete an external circuit upon depression of the button. A restoring spring 54 acts on the flange 50/52. The circuit to the lamp is made through strips 40, 42 in continuous sliding engagement with strips 32, 34 disposed at 90 degrees to strips 28, 30, so that subsequent to the completion of the external circuit and release of the button the lamp remains alight. The switch housing is held in a panel 14 by means of resilient fingers 58 on a ring 56. A shield 60 protects the pushbutton.
