Abstract

786,372. Regulating liquid levels. O'SHEI, W. E. Aug. 12, 1954 [Aug. 14, 1953], No. 22454/53. Class 123(1) [Also in Groups XX and XXXVI] A device for maintaining the level of electrolyte in a battery consists of transparent compressible container 1 which fits into the filling :openings of the battery and has a tube 7 with openings 10a, 10b at the required level of the electrolyte. The container may be threaded as shown at 4 or the thread may be formed on a separate collar which fits round the neck of the container. The container is provided with a float 12 and is filled with water which passes through the openings 10a, 10b when the level of the electrolyte in the battery falls. By squeezing the container a few times it can be filled with electrolyte the density of which can be gauged by the position of the float. A projecting part 8 on the tube 7 prevents the float from closing the tube when the battery is in the discharged condition and the float sinks to the bottom of the electrolyte in the container. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 731,494 [Group XXXVI]
