Abstract

785,633. Aircraft wings. HUREL, M. L. Nov. 11, 1955 [Nov. 13, 1954], No. 32264/55. Class 4. A jet propelled aircraft provided with a thin fixed wing for high speed flight has an auxiliary high lift wing 6 for use during low speed flight which is normally housed within the fuselage 1 in the position shown by chain dotted lines and for use, is rotated about a ball-and-socket pivot 13, 15 to the position shown by full lines. The opening 7 in the fuselage to accommodate the wing is closed by flaps (not shown) and the wing carries a circular structure 14 which is slotted at 18 to receive supporting lugs 17 mounted on a framework 14, 19 within the fuselage. The structure 16 carries a toothed ring 22 engaged by the pinion 21 of an electric motor 20 for retraction of the wing 6.
