Abstract

Light or grey hair is given a dark colouration by applying an aqueous solution of a silver salt, e.g. silver nitrate, containing also p-amino-salicylic acid or a salt thereof, and then warming or drying the hair. Alternatively, the hair may be treated with a solution of silver p-amino-salicylate, containing a slight excess of ammonia. Colour-development may be accelerated by subsequently applying a reducing agent, e.g. hydroquinone.
