784,377. Painter's cradle apparatus. SOC. D'ETUDES ET DE CONSTRUCTION D'APPAREILS DE SECURITE J.R.G. Jan. 2, 1956 [Jan. 6, 1955], No. 74/56. Class 78 (2). A painter's cradle apparatus includes in combination a casing 3 adapted to be suspended by a cable 15 from a fixed point, a winch 14 provided in said casing and around which the cable is wound, an automatic speed-limiting braking device 19, a hand brake 32 by which a person seated on seat 7 can brake his downward descent, and handle 27 by which he can rotate the winch to elevate or descend himself. Rotation of handle 27 drives winch 14 through sprocket 17 and chain 23, the winch being secured in position by engagement of pin 37 with apertures 38 formed in said winch. The person seated upon seat 7 raises or lowers himself and may brake himself by seizing pivoted lever 32 so that its portion 28 bears against the rotating drum 25. Additionally the speed of descent is goverened by the governor 19. Specification 756,793 is referred to.
