Abstract

783,427. Casting-processes. BOHLER & CO. AKT.-GES., GEB. July 30, 1954 [July 30, 1953], No. 22283/54. Class 83 (1). A continuous-casting process consists in imparting a rotary motion to the molten metal such that the meniscus is substantially the same as if the metal were not rotated. The shape of the surface of the metal is controlled by adjusting the position and strength of the electric field causing the rotation. The slag gathers in the trough which forms in the surface. Specification 699,156 is referred to.
