Abstract
783,358. Sewing machines. PHOENIX NAHMASCHINEN AKT.-GES. BAER & REMPEL. April 14, 1955 [May 4, 1954], No. 10779/55. Class 112 Needles, shifting laterally. In a zig-zag sewing machine a pack of cam discs 8 is mounted on a shaft 5 for axial movement therealong for bringing a selected cam disc into operative relation with a cam follower 13 to produce the required movement of the needle carrier. The discs are removably carried by a bush mounted on the shaft so as to be driven thereby, and may be moved therealong by a push and pull rod carrying a fork 24 engaging a groove in the bush. The rod is grooved to engage a ball catch at each step in its movement and carries identification marks to denote its position. The cam follower is adjustably connected to a lever 15 pivoted at 14 and including a slide 16 coupled through the rod 17 to the needle bar. The cam follower may be lifted away from the cams by a lever 20. In modifications, Figs. 6-10 (not shown) the push and pull rod is replaced by a pivoted lever. Specification 736,277 is referred to.
