Abstract

782,413. Dowel-pins; dowelling: GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and PLATT, A. D. B. March 9, 1955 [March 9 1954], No. 6870/54. Class 89(2) [Also in Group XXXIV] A dowel-pin which provides for lateral adjustment of its axis has a pin 5 eccentrically-carried by a body 6 which is rotatable in a sleeve 7 having its exterior eccentric to its bore and rotatable in a housing 2. The latter may be the bearing-bracket of a dynamo whose axis is to be adjusted relatively to the crank-shaft axis of a diesel engine in a casing 3. The pin 5 engages a hole 21 in the casing so that rotation of the body 6 and sleeve 7 in opposite directions will move the bracket 2 relatively to the casing 3. Bolts 12 clamp a cover 11 against a collar 10 on sleeve 7 and clamp a collar 9 on body 6 between the sleeve and bracket to secure the adjustment. The bracket 2 may have a plain dowel 15, Fig. 3, at one side and an adjustable dowel 5 at the other, to give vertical adjustment of the bearing- axis 16, or may have an adjustable dowel at each side to give horizontal adjustment of axis 16 as well.
