Abstract
782,200. Cooling dynamo-electric machines. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Dec. 7, 1955 [Feb. 9, 1955], No. 3895/55. Class 35. A foot or other support of an enclosed machine forms a chamber through which the internal air flows and by one of the boundary walls is in heat exchange relationship with external air. As shown, the feet comprise bars 18 secured to the casing 2 by welded-on plates 13, 14 forming compartments 12 into each of which internal air flows via apertures 22 near one end of the machine and returns to the machine interior and through rotor ducts after flowing axially through the compartments over the outer surfaces of which external air is passed by fan 25, some of this air also flowing between ribs 27 in the cowl 23.
