Abstract

781,947. Hinges and pivots COLE, Ltd., E. K.. and HUTCHINGS, E. L. Aug. 15, 1955 [Aug. 14, 1954], No. 23670/54. Class 65(2) [Also in Group XVII] A lid is pivoted to a box by a pair of pivots each comprising a semi-cylindrical part G, Fig. 4, secured to or formed integral with the lid A and which is slid through an opening L, Fig. 2, into a socket J. While the lid is held at a predetermined angle to the box a complementary semicylindrical part I is inserted through the opening L to complete the pivot. The opening L subtends an angle of slightly less than 90 degrees at the centre of the socket J, although to render the lid readily detachable the angle may be 90 degrees.
