Abstract

Plastic sheets, e.g. of P.V.C., polystyrene, methyl methacrylate or plasticized cellulose acetate are heated by radiant heat from lengths of electric heaters [see Group XI] placed over them, and the heaters or the sheets or both are reciprocated laterally to ensure even heating. The sheets when soft may be drawn down into vacuum moulds, which may also be reciprocated, or may be removed to other presses.
