Abstract
779,773. Devices for spinning textile fibres. PUJOL, C. Aug. 19, 1955 [Aug. 20, 1954], No. 23999/55. Class 120 (2). A device for spinning textile fibres comprises a container fitted with a vertical shaft which is mounted for rotation about its longitudinal axis, the inside walls of the container being of curved generatrix constituting a surface of revolution which gradually increases in diameter from its upper part which forms a continuation of an axial channel in the shaft, until it reaches the bottom of the container, where its diameter is a maximum, a streamline, central, vertical stem inside the container and extending from the bottom of the container, so that the upper end of the stem is opposite the lower mouth of the above mentioned channel, and a series of radial openings for the outlet of air which enters the container through the upper axial channel provided in the lower part of the lateral walls of the container. In the arrangement shown the container 10 is fixed to a vertical shaft 17 which has an axial channel 12 for the passage of textile material. Inside the container is a vertical stem 14 which rises from the bottom 13 and whose upper end 14<SP>1</SP> is disposed opposite the bell mouth opening 12<SP>1</SP> of the channel 12. The shaft and the container are mounted for rotation in bearings 20, 21 and 22 and are driven by an electric motor mounted around the shaft 17. In the lower part of the peripheral wall of the container is a series of radial openings 15<SP>1</SP> for the escape of air which enters the container 10 through the axial passage 12. It is stated that textile material is introduced by the suction effect generated by the air expelled by centrifugal force through the radial openings 151 and that the material falls in spirals of ever increasing diameter within the container 10, adhering by centrifugal force to the walls thereof and falling progressively until it reaches the lower part thereof. The extraction of the material is made through the same channel 12. In a second embodiment the shaft and container are driven by an air turbine wheel.
