A portable structure 1, Fig. 2, e.g., a poultry house, is constructed as a single unit or part of a unit, and is mounted on skids 3 fixed to floor members 2 and cross braced by X form members 4. The skids are provided with towing or lifting shackles 6 and may be of concrete or of any metal section, e.g., tubular. In a modification the skids are of girder form of built-up metal sections covered by sheet metal panels.
