Abstract
778,874. Scaffold clamps. SCAFFOLDING (GREAT BRITAIN), Ltd., and RICHARDS, L. S. Jan. 23, 1956 [March 9, 1955], No. 6942/55. Class 20(2) Scaffold clamp having a U-shaped member 10 adapted to receive one scaffold tube in the bight 11 of the U and having recesses 131, 141 in the limbs of the U to receive a second transverse tube, engaged directly by the clamping screw 17, has a clamping plate 16 adapted on assembly to be passed endwise through slots 132, 142 in the ends 13, 14 of the limbs of the U-shaped member, a lug 161 on the end of the plate preventing it passing right through the slot 132 and allowing the plate to pivot on the end 13 which is bent back at 133 to allow the plate 16 to be swung aside to allow a scaffold tube to be engaged with the clamp. The other end of the plate 16 is rebated at 163 to engage the edge of the slot 142 when the scaffold tubes are clamped by the clamping screw 17 in the plate 16.
